O’Malley for Iowa to Hold Game of Thrones-Themed Competition

Des Moines, Iowa -- This week, O’Malley for Iowa will hold a Game of Phones challenge where students and volunteers around the state fight to make the most phone calls and talk to Iowans about Martin O’Malley’s record of delivering results on progressive values.
 
Following the theme from HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, the challenge will break the state of Iowa up into five regions. The regions (Houses Targaryen, Lannister, Tyrell, Martell and Stark) will face off against each other and against the O’Malley for Iowa Headquarters (Kings Landing) to win based on the number of calls made by supporters in each region.
 
"In the Game of Phones, you either win or you dial more. Our supporters will be dialing caucus-goers like they are being chased by white walkers,” said State Director Jake Oeth. “Our campaign is committed to building a strong grassroots organization and organizing the Iowa caucus way: one conversation at a time. This is just one of the many ways that we continue to engage with caucus-goers on the ground, talk about Governor O’Malley’s vision and record of getting things done -- and also have some fun while doing it.”
 
Using technology, social networks, and capitalizing off the youth and enthusiasm of O’Malley supporters, the challenge will take the campaign’s grassroots efforts to the next level as the caucus season heads into the fall and the Democratic Party prepares to finally hold debates.
 
O’Malley for Iowa supporters around the state will be calling from their homes, coffee shops, restaurants and campaign field offices to participate. Media are welcome to join volunteers Saturday and Sunday at our field offices in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Sioux City.
