IDP Statement on CNN GOP Debate

DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic Party Chair Dr. Andy McGuire released the following statement on tonight’s CNN GOP Debate:

“Over nearly five hours tonight, we heard a lot from Republicans about cutting funding to women’s health clinics. About repeating the foreign policy mistakes of the past. About providing more benefits to corporations and those at the top. About tearing immigrant families apart. And about Donald Trump.

“But in five hours, we heard close to nothing about how we can lift up working Iowa families, or build an economy that works for everyone. We heard nothing about how we can make college more affordable for Iowa’s students, and ensure our students and teachers have the resources we need to succeed. And we heard nothing about how we can raise wages and ensure no Iowan who works full time lives near the poverty line.

“The choice for Iowans couldn’t be more clear, and I couldn’t be prouder tonight to be an Iowa Democrat.”
