Gov. Huckabee Wins Fox News GOP Debate
Huckabee clearly communicates his command of the issues and leadership abilities
Little Rock, Ark.- Former Arkansas governor and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee wins the Fox News GOP debate in Cleveland by clearly communicating his command of the issues. The following are highlights of his comments:
Social Security and Medicare:
"Let's all be reminded that 60 million Americans are on Social Security. Whose fault is it that the system is screwed up? If Congress wants to mess with the program, why don't we let them start with their own retirement program instead of talking about getting rid of Social Security and Medicare?"
Foreign Policy:
"President Reagan said 'trust but verify,' and this President 'trusts & vilifies'. He trusts our enemies & vilifies anyone who disagrees with him."
Iran:
"The Iranians have said, 'We will wipe Israel off the face of the map and we will bring death to America.' When someone points a gun at your head and loads it, by God you ought to take them seriously. And we need to take them seriously."
Pro-Life and Supreme Court:
"It's time we recognize that the Supreme Court is not the Supreme Being. We need to protect children instead of ripping up their body parts and selling them like they're part of a Buick."
Education:
"The fact is there are a lot of things happening at the federal level that are absolutely beyond the jurisidiction of the Constitution. There is no role at the federal level for the Department of Education."
Transgender Reassignment Surgery for Military:
"The military is not a social experiment. The purpose of the military is kill people and break things. I'm not sure how paying for transgendered surgery for soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines makes our country safer!
Washington Dysfunction:
"The problem is that we have a Wall Street to Washington axis of power that controls the political climate. The donor class feeds the political class who does the dance that the donor class wants."
Tax Reform and the IRS:
"We can get rid of the IRS if we pass the FairTax."
