Opportunity and Freedom PAC today announced the hiring of Marshall Critchfield as Iowa State Director and Beth Hamilton as Iowa Deputy State Director.

Marshall Critchfield is stepping down from his role as Jasper County Republican Party Chairman to go to work for Opportunity and Freedom PAC. Marshall lives in Newton, IA with his wife, Stephanie, and their daughters Whitney and Jane Hadley.

Beth Hamilton is an experienced political operative who comes to Opportunity and Freedom PAC's Iowa operation from Jackson, MS, where she managed Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney's successful primary election.

"We are in this race for the long haul, and thanks to the support of our donors we have the resources to run a state of the art grassroots effort in Iowa, and that is what Marshall and Beth have been hired to do," said Jordan Russell, spokesman for Opportunity and Freedom PAC. "A Republican leader of Marshall's stature agreeing to come on board is a huge boost, and Beth is a first rate grassroots organizer who knows how to win. I was elected to serve northwest Iowa in the U.S. Congress in 1975, just a few decades after World War II, when America pulled together to make difficult choices together to build a strong middle class. It was a great time. Both Congress and the American people worked together to build a better nation, and a better life for all of the people.

My generation has been called “the greatest generation” and that period was coined “the great prosperity.” But the work we did then isn’t finished.

Now, after the economic collapse in 2008, it’s time for the next generation of new leadership to rebuild that American Dream. That’s why I’m endorsing Martin O’Malley for president.

As a World War II veteran, I saw what America can accomplish when we work together. We had to tax the wealthiest Americans to build the planes, tanks, guns, and equipment needed to defeat Hitler. And, during my time in Congress, we brought people together to fund our priorities that made the American dream possible for so many in our generation.

Then Ronald Reagan was elected president. While he was very popular, he proposed a massive tax cut that benefited the wealthy and introduced a new, toxic kind of economics that changed how we operate as a country. His tax cuts for the wealthy grew even larger under following Republican presidents — leading to an economy today where wealth is so concentrated at the top, and in the hands of a select few, that it is taking opportunity away from the many.

Today, another war is going on that few people are aware of — it’s a fight for our American dream. It’s a battle between the super-rich and the common people, between Main Street and Wall Street, between those who want to invest in the things that work and those who cling to a failed trickle-down economic model. How we choose to move forward during this difficult time will make all the difference.

We need new leadership — from someone with a record of getting progressive results — to rebuild the American dream. That’s why I am proud to endorse O’Malley for president.

Following his first trip to Virginia since announcing his candidacy for president, Gov. Scott Walker today announced that former Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore will serve as Finance Chairman for his campaign in the commonwealth.

"I am eager to do what it takes to help Gov. Walker succeed in Virginia in March and beyond," said Kilgore. "His message of fighting and winning for the hard-working taxpayers is one I believe Virginians – and all Americans – are yearning to hear, and his record of accomplishment following through on that message is second to none. Gov. Scott Walker is the leader our country needs, and I am honored to support his efforts in this campaign."

Jerry Kilgore served as Virginia Attorney General from 2002 to 2005 and was the Republican nominee in the 2005 Virginia governor's race. He is a former chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association. He has also served as Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and was a member of Gov. George Allen's cabinet.

Karen Fesler has over three decades of political experience, first as a county coordinator for Governor Kit Bond's 1980 gubernatorial campaign.  From 1996 to 2014, Fesler served as a District and State Delegate to the Republican Party of Iowa.  From 2013 until 2015, Fesler served on the Iowa 2nd District Executive Committee, serving as Chair from 2014-2015.  
 
During the 2012 presidential campaign, Karen Fesler was a member of the Santorum for President Iowa Steering Committee and later served as the campaign's Missouri State Director.  Fesler has been named by POLITICO as one of their top 50 insiders in Iowa and she most recently served as State Co-Chair of Governor Rick Perry's 2016 presidential campaign.
