Senator Ted Cruz to Attend Iowa Agriculture Summit
Announcement Means Eight Prospective Presidential Candidates to Attend
West Des Moines, IA – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas has confirmed he will participate in the first-ever Iowa Agriculture Summit on March 7, pushing the number of confirmed prospective presidential candidates in attendance to eight.
Former Govs. Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee and Rick Perry, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, New York businessman Donald Trump and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker were the first prospective candidates to confirm their participation in the bipartisan event that will be held at the Elwell Family Food Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Des Moines.
"I am very pleased that Sen. Cruz will join us at the Ag Summit. Interest continues to grow not only among potential candidates but also with the general public and media across the state and around the country," said Bruce Rastetter, the Iowa entrepreneur and philanthropist was is organizing the event. "The Iowa Agriculture Summit promises to be an informative and insightful forum. We're looking forward to more speakers confirming in the days ahead."
Each speaker at the summit will appear on stage alone with Rastetter for 20 minutes to answer questions about the broad range of issues facing American farmers and agribusinesses, including modern agriculture practices, renewable fuels, biosciences, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), grain and livestock markets, land conservation, federal subsidies and other related topics.
The event will also feature Governor Terry Branstad, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Charles Grassley.
