Santorum wins accolades, praise & big crowds in swing through Hawkeye State
VERONA, PA - 2012 Iowa Caucus winner, former U.S. Senator, and Chairman of Patriot Voices Rick Santorum concluded his 5-day swing through Iowa to praise for his message of appealing to hard-working American families. On his trip, Santorum visited the major metropolitan areas of Des Moines, Sioux City, and Davenport; however, he also visited the rural towns of Aurelia, Logan, and Williamsburg. Altogether, Santorum visited 8 of Iowa's 99 counties on his travels.
Here is a sampling of what influential national and Iowa reporters said about Santorum's visit:
"Santorum's visit to the Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit Tuesday was just another indication that he 'gets' Iowa... While Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, and Carly Fiorina received all the accolades on Saturday, it was Santorum who had the best trip to the state." - Craig Robinson, TheIowaRepublican.com (1/28/15)
"Don't discount (Rick Santorum). This speech benefits from his having run before & he is going to do 99 counties again..." - Mark Halperin, Bloomberg (1/24/15)
"'Americans feel the division & we're sick of it,' (Santorum) says, getting affirmation from (the) Freedom Summit crowd," - O. Kay Henderson, Radio Iowa (1/24/15)
"Although it hasn't gotten much attention, Rick Santorum's speech (to the Freedom Summit) was terrific... the foundation of his message - pro-work and -workers - is exactly what a post-47 percent Republican Party needs." - Rich Lowry, National Review (1/26/15)
"(Santorum) kicked the tires on a new blue-collar message aimed more at working stiffs... Quad Cities resident Jeff Havenner supported Santorum in the last Iowa Straw Poll but caucused for former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, 'I think what he's saying makes a lot of sense,' he said." - Josh Hafner, The Des Moines Register (1/27/15)
