Former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley To Deliver Kansas Democrats Washington Days Keynote Speech

TOPEKA - The Kansas Democratic Party proudly announces that Martin O'Malley, former Governor of Maryland, will deliver the keynote speech at the KDP's Washington Days banquet on Saturday, March 7, 2015.  The banquet will be held at the Downtown Topeka Ramada Convention Center Regency Ballroom at a time to be determined.

"I am looking forward to joining the Kansas Democratic Party to chart a path forward that empowers all Americans from the heartland to the mid-Atlantic," O'Malley said. "Kansas is ground zero in the debate over the choices we make as leaders: whether we should prioritize budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthiest, or choose to invest in our children’s future, grow businesses so they can succeed in today’s economy and create a climate of opportunity for all. In Maryland, we never lost sight of the better choices we needed to make, and we stayed focused on investing in critical priorities like education, infrastructure, and innovation. And as a result of those investments, Maryland is a national leader in schools, median income, holding down the cost of college tuition, and innovation and entrepreneurship. I look forward to coming to Kansas and sharing this message of results, and to stand with Kansas Democrats to expand opportunities for Sunflower State families, create good-paying jobs, and grow the state’s economy."

Martin O’Malley served the people of Maryland as Governor from 2007 to 2015.  Prior to becoming Governor, O’Malley served as Mayor of the City of Baltimore from 1999 until 2007.

Madison – Governor Scott Walker announced today the formation of Our American Revival. This 527 leadership organization will communicate a vision and work to enact policies that will lead to a more free and prosperous America by restoring power to thes tates and - more importantly - the people. Rick Wiley will serve as the executive director for Our American Revival.

“Our American Revival encompasses the shared values that make our country great; limiting the powers of the federal government to those defined in the Constitution while creating a leaner, more efficient, more effective and more accountable government to the American people,” said Governor Walker.

Our American Revival will bring together concerned citizens and elected officials from across the country who will advocate for policies that reflect the ideal that a government closest to the people can best respond to the needs and interests of the people - while protecting their freedoms and values against overreach by the federal government.

“To move this country forward we need new, fresh leadership from outside Washington,” continued Walker. “We need leaders who are bold. That’s how we build a better future for our children and grandchildren. We’ve done it in Wisconsin and it can be done across this country with the right leadership.”

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement announcing Katie Walsh as the new RNC Chief of Staff:

“Today, I’m pleased to announce that Katie Walsh will serve as the next RNC Chief of Staff,” said Chairman Reince Priebus. “As our Finance Director during the successful 2014 midterm cycle, Katie’s leadership helped the RNC break multiple fundraising records. Her tireless work ethic, team spirit, and proven fundraising abilities will make her an outstanding Chief of Staff.

“Working with every department, Katie will ensure that we build on the success of 2014 as we partner with our state parties, sister committees, and our eventual presidential nominee’s campaign. We will continue to strengthen our field operation, our data and digital capabilities, and our voter outreach and engagement.

"The 2016 presidential cycle is already well underway, and it will require a significant financial commitment from the RNC. Having someone with a proven fundraising and finance background as our Chief of Staff will help power the committee toward yet another record-breaking cycle.

“I want to thank outgoing Chief of Staff Mike Shields for his leadership over the last two years. Following the release of the Growth and Opportunity Project, Mike came on board at a critical time. During his tenure, we fundamentally reshaped how the RNC does business as we transformed the committee into a full-time, year-round, data-driven operation. We accomplished a great deal with Mike at the helm, and I’m so grateful for his leadership and his friendship.”

Biographical information for Katie Walsh:

Katie Walsh was named RNC Finance Director in June 2013, after joining the RNC as Deputy Finance Director in January 2013. During the 2014 cycle, the RNC raised nearly $200 million, including $56 million from major donors. Katie also served as Senator John Cornyn’s National Finance Director during his 2014 re-election campaign. In her previous role as Deputy Finance Director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, she worked with Senate campaigns across the country to implement comprehensive fundraising and campaign strategies. Her past experience also includes serving as Midwest Regional Finance Director for the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008 and working for Friends of Fred Thompson, at the Ashcroft Group, and as a field representative for Missourians for Matt Blunt.

Why Leadership Matters

America has been a nation that has always controlled events and yet today events control us. Why? Because leadership matters. It matters if we want to restore America's role in the world, find the political will to take on the entrenched special interests that continually stand in the way of fundamental change, reform entitlement spending at every level of government, and ensure that every child, no matter their zip code, has access to a quality education.

Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition Presidential Forum Scheduled for April 25, 2015

With the eyes of the nation on Iowa, which will host the very first 2016 presidential caucuses, the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition will host an exciting and informative presidential candidate forum on Saturday, April 25, 2015.

The event will attract a statewide audience of Iowa's most politically active citizens. As in the last presidential caucus cycle, Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition will be the first non-profit issue advocacy organization to sponsor such an event.
 
Past participants include former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Bachman, former Texas Congressman Ron Paul, Georgia business executive Herman Cain, former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer, and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. All candidates--Republicans and Democrats--will be invited to participate.
 
We promise an in-depth conversation with the candidates on a broad range of issues. We believe this will be a first step for caucus goers to garner information that will allow them to formulate their opinions on who they will support at the 2016 precinct caucuses.
