Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the following statement on the death of Osama bin Laden:

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the men and women of the U.S. military and intelligence community. Their persistence and dedicated service has yielded success in a mission that has gripped our nation since the terrible events of 9/11. Tonight’s news does not bring back the lives of the thousands of innocent people who were killed that day by Osama bin Laden’s horrific plan, and it does not end the threat posed by terrorists, but it is my hope that this is the beginning of the end of Sharia-compliant terrorism.”

The Polk County Republican Party & The Robb Kelley Club To Host An Evening With U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann 
 
Des Moines, IA-U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) will be the featured speaker at the second annual dinner honoring long-time Republican activist and area businessman Robb Kelley.  The event is set for Thursday, May 26 in Des Moines at the Marriott Hotel, 700 Grand Avenue, with a reception at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

As a joint venture by the Polk County Republican Party and Robb Kelley Club, the event has become a perennial favorite kickoff event for the campaign season among statewide Republicans and party activists.

Last year's dinner, featuring former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, attracting several hundred guests and candidates, was heralded as a successful launch to the 2010 campaign year. 

"We anticipate a large turnout because of Congresswoman Bachmann's extreme popularity among Iowans," said Polk County GOP Chairman Kevin McLaughlin, "Michele Bachmann is extremely popular with Iowans because of her TEA Party affililiations; her convictions about smaller government, spending reductions and discounting taxes to push money back into the hands of individuals, families and businesses to make all of us and America stronger.  And don't forget, she's originally from Iowa, too."

Mrs. Bachmann represents the 6th Congressional District of Minnesota and is the first Republican woman to present that state in the U.S. Congress.  She is the founder of the House Tea Party Caucus and is often called the "founder of the Tea Party Movement" in America.  She is also considered a top contender for the 2012 U.S. Presidential bid.

Robb Kelley Club Chairman Steve Roberts and Honorary Chairman Bob Burnett will assist Polk County GOP leaders Chairman Kevin McLaughlin, Co-Chairman Dave Funk and Finance Chairman Nick Van Patten in the success of this annual event to raise funds for the Polk County Republican Party.

Nashua, NH      Jennifer Horn, President of We The People, announced today the first three GOP Presidential candidates and potential candidates who will be participating in the First In The Nation Freedom Forum.

A First In The Nation Freedom Forum With Senator Jim DeMint and Congressman Steve King will take place on April 30, 2011, from 10:00am-2:30 pm at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.  The program will include presentations by presidential candidates, a “Liberty Row” exhibition space for conservative organizations and a roundtable conversation with Sen. Jim DeMint & Congressman Steve King regarding conservative principles and the 2012 Presidential election.
