Newt Gingrich Kicks Off Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference With Keynote Address
Lansing, MI — Speaker Newt Gingrich will kick off the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference with a keynote address on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
“We are excited to have Speaker Newt Gingrich kick off our Conference and address our grassroots leaders on the major issues facing our country,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Bobby Schostak. “A frequent visitor to Mackinac, Speaker Gingrich understands the significance of the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference, and the influence it has on the national debate of issues. His address to our attendees will help set the tone for an amazing weekend.”
Speaker Gingrich was the architect of the “Contract with America” which changed the political landscape in America and helped Republicans in the U.S. House gain the majority in 1994 after serving in the minority for 40 years. Under his leadership as speaker, the U.S. House passed welfare reforms, passed a balanced budget and passed the first tax cut in sixteen years. He is an accomplished author of 23 books, including 13 fiction and nonfiction New York Times Best Sellers.
He is the Chairman of the Gingrich Group, a consulting and communications firm with offices in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. He also serves as general chairman of American Solutions for Winning the Future, a grassroots organization working to provide solutions to issues facing our country.
“Newt Gingrich’s resume is impressive, but what is more impressive is his strong desire to influence change,” Schostak said. “We are lucky to have him as a featured speaker in an all-star line-up.”
The Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference began in 1953 and has a well-established tradition of hosting national Republican leaders including President George H.W. Bush; Senators John McCain, Sam Brownback, and Fred Thompson; Mayor Rudy Giuliani; Governors Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney; and Congressman Eric Cantor.
The Conference takes place September 23-25 at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
