JOHN MCCAIN 2008 LAUNCHES NEW TV AD ON GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE: "A BETTER WAY"

JOHN MCCAIN 2008 LAUNCHES NEW TV AD ON GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE: "A BETTER WAY"

ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today released a new television ad, entitled "A Better Way," focusing on John McCain's commitment to addressing the challenge of global climate change.

This week, John McCain travels to the Pacific Northwest to deliver remarks on climate change, setting the stage for a discussion on conservation and stewardship of our natural resources. Today in Portland, John McCain will deliver a major speech outlining his plans to combat the threat of global climate change and re-establish America's environmental leadership in the world. He will propose a domestic cap-and-trade system that will mobilize market forces to develop and commercialize alternatives to carbon-based fuels. On Tuesday, John McCain will travel to Seattle, where he will participate in a roundtable discussion to solicit the views of environmentalists, conservationists and the business community on the most effective strategies for meeting this challenge.

"A Better Way" will air in the important battleground state of Oregon.

"A Better Way" -- (TV-:30)

ANNCR: Our environment in peril,

Oil and food prices out of control,

Climate change wreaks havoc with deadly weather.

One extreme thinks high taxes and crippling regulation is the solution.

Another denies the problem even exists.

There's a better way.

JOHN MCCAIN: I believe that climate change is real.

It's not just a greenhouse gas issue.

It's a national security issue.

We have an obligation to future generations to take action and fix it.

I'm John McCain and I approve this message.

In Mother’s Day Ad, Chelsea Clinton Talks About Values Passed Down From Her Mother

In Mother’s Day Ad, Chelsea Clinton Talks About Values Passed Down From Her Mother

In celebration of Mother’s Day, the Clinton campaign today released a new television ad featuring Chelsea Clinton talking about the values passed down by her mother and how those values drive Hillary’s commitment to public service.

The 60-second spot, entitled “Mothers Day,” will be broadcast in Oregon Sunday.

The script of the ad follows below:

“Mothers Day”
TV: 60

Chelsea Clinton: I’d like to tell you about my mom. Yes, she’s running for President, but she’s always done a lot of running.

She’d run straight home from work to ensure we had dinner together every night. She’d run from one softball game to one soccer game to every ballet recital.

Like so many loving and devoted mothers I’ve met across this country, my mom raised me to believe in the values that are most important in life – self confidence, kindness, compassion and most of all, the golden rule. The values, I know, my grandmother passed on to her.

I know it’s my mom’s greatest wish that as President she can help all our children to feel safe, secure and loved. And give every boy and girl the opportunity that she’s given me to fulfill their dreams.

I want to wish every mother out there a happy mothers day and remember your little girls can be anything they want to be in America when they grow up – even if it’s to be the second woman President.

Happy Mother’s Day

Senator Clinton: I am Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

"Strongest Plan"

TV :30

Ambassador Joe Wilson: We challenged the Bush administration when they wouldn't tell the truth about weapons of mass destruction.

And they tried to destroy us for speaking out.

Valerie Plame Wilson: Ending the Iraq war means a lot to us and that's why we are supporting Hillary.

She has been a leader in pushing the administration for a serious exit strategy.

Ambassador Joe Wilson: And Hillary has the strongest plan for bringing our troops home, starting within sixty days.

Valerie Plame Wilson: If you care about ending the war, we urge you to join us in supporting Hillary Clinton for President.

Ambassador Joe Wilson: She'll get the job done.

New Obama Response To Latest Clinton Ad

New Obama Response To Latest Clinton Attack Ad
“Hometown” Makes Case That Clinton Attacks Don’t Solve Our Problems

Chicago, IL –  The country is in the midst of two wars, the economy is reeling, and American families are hurting.  The Clinton campaign’s response is more typical Washington politics – misleading, negative ads to distract from policy gimmicks that even her aides admit would do little to help families.

In response to the latest Clinton attack ad, today the Obama campaign released a new 30-second TV spot, “Hometown.”  The Obama ad calls for honest answers to the challenges facing the country rather than more of the same negative attacks that even Senator Clinton’s hometown paper characterizes as the “low road,” and that “do nothing but harm.”

Hometown: 30-Sec

V/O:  “A war that should never have been waged. An economy in turmoil. Record prices at the pump. America held hostage to foreign oil.”

“And what does Hillary Clinton offer us?

“More of the same old negative politics.

“Her hometown newspaper says she's taking the low road - her attacks do nothing but harm.

“The same old Washington politics won't fix our problems.

“We need honest answers... And a president we can trust.

BO: “I'm Barack Obama and I approve this message.”

New Ad: Under Hillary’s Plan, Oil Companies Would Pay Gas Tax - Not Drivers

New Ad:  Under Hillary’s Plan, Oil Companies Would Pay Gas Tax - Not Drivers

Without a plan of his own, Obama launches misleading attacks

As the price of oil passed $120 a barrel today, the Clinton Campaign launched a new ad in Indiana and North Carolina outlining Hillary’s plan to suspend the gas tax for American drivers this summer, paid for by a windfall profits tax on big oil companies and their record earnings.

The 30-second spot, entitled "What’s Happened” notes that Sen. Obama has launched misleading attacks about Hillary’s plan because he has no solution of his own to lower gas prices for American consumers. By forcing oil companies to pay the gas tax, Hillary’s plan would save motorists about $8 billion.

Following is the script for the ad.

"WHAT’S HAPPENED"

TV :30

[Announcer]: What has happened to Barack Obama?

Woman: Right now we are living paycheck to paycheck.

[Announcer]: He is attacking Hillary’s plan to give you a break on gas prices because he doesn’t have one.

Man: The price of gas is going up.

Woman: It’s hard to fill up the tank.

[Announcer]: Hillary wants the oil companies to pay for the gas tax this summer – so you don’t have to.

[Announcer]: Barack Obama wants you to keep paying; $8 billion in all. Hillary is the one who gets it.

Man: Hillary Clinton is the candidate that is going to fight for working people.

I am Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

In New 2-Minute TV Ads, Obama Makes Closing Argument to Indiana and North Carolina Voters

In New 2-Minute TV Ads, Obama Makes Closing Argument to Indiana and North Carolina Voters

CHICAGO, IL—Today, the Obama campaign announced that it will air new two-minute ads in Indiana and North Carolina entitled “Minute.” The ads will air predominantly during the evening news on Monday, but will play in some markets as soon as Sunday evening.

In the new spots, Obama makes his closing argument to Indiana and North Carolina voters, outlining his plans to put an end to the divisive, calculated politics in Washington.  In the ads, Obama continues to speak out against a gas tax holiday, which is nothing more than Washington politics as usual at its worst.

The ads highlight Barack Obama as the candidate who will stand up to the special interests, truly invest in the middle class, and deliver real change that matters in the lives of working families across our country.

INDIANA SCRIPT – “Minute”

VO: They’re Indiana values.  Hard work, community, keeping your word.

And there’s a candidate who shares those values, who thinks differently than those who’ve spent decades in Washington.

Barack Obama.

OBAMA: Politics didn’t lead me to working people.  Working people led me to politics.

VO: He got his start in Illinois as a community organizer, helping

neighborhoods devastated by steel plant closings.

OBAMA: And I worked with churches to help those workers get back on their feet.

VO: For two decades in public life, he’s stood up to powerful interests on behalf of people, taking tough stands, bringing parties together to get things done.

It says something about the president he’d be.

OBAMA: It’s not enough just to change political parties in the White House, we’ve got to change how our politics works.

Now, he’s visiting cities and towns across Indiana.

OBAMA: I meet Hoosiers who are struggling. Jobs disappearing, families facing foreclosure, the cost of everything from healthcare to tuition to groceries to gas at the pump going up and up and up.

VO: And at each stop, he trusts us with the truth.

OBAMA: We could suspend the gas tax for six months.  But that’s not gonna bring down gas prices long-term.

OBAMA: That’s typical of how Washington works.  Let’s find some short-term quick fix that we can say we did something even though we’re not really doing anything.

We’ve got to go after the oil companies and look at their price-gouging.  We’ve got to start using less oil, and that means raising fuel-efficiency standards on cars and developing alternative fuels.

VO: It’s a new kind of politics.  With a plan to bring our troops home.  Turn around this economy.  Deliver real tax relief for the middle class.  And bring back some hope at a time when it’s desperately needed.

OBAMA: That’s why May Sixth is so important. We’ve got a choice. We can go about doing the same old things with the same old folks and somehow hope we’re going to get a different result.  Or we can go ahead and try something entirely different. You and I together, we¹ll change this country and change the world.

OBAMA: I’m Barack Obama, and I approve this message.

NORTH CAROLINA SCRIPT – “Minute”

VO: North Carolina values.  Hard work, community, keeping your word.

There’s a candidate who shares those values, who thinks differently than those who’ve spent decades in Washington.

Barack Obama.

OBAMA: Politics didn’t lead me to working people.  Working people led me to politics.

VO: After college, he began his career as a community organizer, helping neighborhoods devastated by steel plant closings.

OBAMA: I worked with churches to help those workers get back on their feet.

VO: For two decades in public life, he’s stood up to powerful interests on behalf of people, taking tough stands, bringing parties together to get things done.

OBAMA: It’s not enough just to change political parties in the White House, we’ve got to change how our politics works.

Now, he’s visiting cities and towns across North Carolina.

OBAMA: People are struggling. Jobs disappearing, nothing taking their place.  Families facing foreclosure, the cost of everything from healthcare to groceries to gas at the pump going up and up and up.

VO: And at each stop, he trusts us with the truth.

OBAMA: We could suspend the gas tax for six months.  But that’s not gonna bring down gas prices long-term.
