Kerry-Edwards Campaign Unveils New Round of National Ads Highlighting Their Positive Vision for America
Ads Build on Themes of Creating a New Stronger America At Home and Abroad

Washington, DC – The Kerry–Edwards campaign this morning unveiled seven new ads as part of an aggressive strategy to introduce the country to the proven, energetic and experienced Kerry-Edwards ticket.  Expanding the battleground states, the campaign announced that for the first time it is running ads in John Edwards’ home state of North Carolina.  The seven 30-second spots introduce voters to the Kerry-Edwards ticket and their vision for a stronger America – good paying jobs, affordable health care, energy independence, a strong military and a respected America that leads strong alliances around the world.
Excitement for this new team is growing across the country and with today’s ads, the campaign made clear its intention to run a strong positive campaign on the issues that matter to all Americans.  The Kerry-Edwards ticket represents a new team for a new America.

With Coordinators in All 50 States, Kerry Kicks Off Veterans Mission to Organize 1 Million Vets Across the Country
Asks Supporters to Help Military Families by Giving to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund

Minneapolis, MN – Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry Friday rallied fellow veterans in Minneapolis to kick off a nationwide effort to organize 1 million veterans behind his campaign for the White House. With state Veterans for Kerry coordinators now in place in all 50 states, today’s rally marked the beginning of a grassroots push by veterans across the country to elect John Kerry President.

To give something back, Kerry also announced at the rally that he is asking all his supporters to demonstrate their support for military families by contributing to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund – a fund that supports military families who have lost their loved ones in battles since the attacks on US soil. Supporters can show their support by donating through the Intrepid link on Johnkerry.com.

“Today I’m proud to announce Veterans for Kerry,” Kerry said. “This is a group of men and women in all fifty states who will be on the front lines, helping organize veterans, bringing our message to voters across America.”

In their states, state Veterans for Kerry groups will organize and execute grassroots, veteran-to-veteran outreach efforts, including: vet-to-vet phone banks, veterans visibility efforts, veterans motorcycle rides, including one to the Convention in Boston, and Veterans Internet operations. Through their efforts, the Kerry campaign is setting the goal of organizing 1 million veterans behind John Kerry’s campaign.

“As President, I will always remember that America’s security begins and ends with the soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine – with every man and every woman in our armed services standing a post somewhere in the world,” Kerry said. “We salute each and every one of them for their commitment, strength, and extraordinary courage – especially those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. They, like all veterans of wars past, deserve our prayers and then, when they come home, they deserve the respect and support of a grateful nation.”

Kerry’s distinguished group of state coordinators is made up of veterans who served in peacetime and combat, from World War II to Iraq. Between them, they have received 17 Purple Hearts, 13 Bronze Stars, 7 Silver Stars and a Congressional Medal of Honor. From all branches of military service, the state coordinators have worked tirelessly over the past months to set up grassroots organizations in their respective states to mobilize veterans for Kerry.

Before the rally, Kerry held a conference call with all his coordinators to thank them for leading the charge and for their service to his campaign.

In addition to placing an Intrepid link on Johnkerry.com, Kerry will send an email to his 1 million plus online supporters asking them to give back and honor the men and women in our armed forces by donating to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. The fund helps military families who have lost a loved one make home payments, child education payments or meet similar financial needs during difficult times.

As President, Kerry will keep America’s promise to our veterans. His plan includes mandatory funding for VA healthcare to properly care for over 500,000 veterans who are currently excluded from the system and revoking the Disabled Veterans Tax, which deducts disability pay from military retirement pay.

Kerry is in the closing days of 11-day focus on national security, where he is talking about his plan to build a stronger, more secure America with a national security policy designed to meet today’s challenges, including modernizing the military to face new threats. Kerry continued to echo these themes at his rally today.

“The first definition of patriotism is to keep faith with those who have worn the uniform of the United States,” Kerry said. “And the first duty of a commander in chief is to make America strong and keep Americans safe. It’s time do what it takes to build an America that is respected in the world once more.”

Yesterday, Kerry announced a Senior Military Advisory Group of 10 prominent retired admirals and general officers who are advising his campaign on defense and national security issues.

On Friday, June 4, 2004, Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry joined fellow veterans from across the country at a rally in Minneapolis to kick off the national Veterans for Kerry operation. Kerry Launches significant NEW ad Campaign on his plan to build a stronger america

Washington, DC – The John Kerry for President campaign today launched a significant new ad campaign designed to tell the American people how Kerry will build a stronger and more secure America. The first two in what will be a series of ads emphasize John Kerry’s clear strategy to win the peace in Iraq and his plan to rebuild America by putting our economy back on track, creating new and better jobs, expanding access to affordable health care and improving our nation’s schools.

“John Kerry offers real leadership and vision of how to build a stronger America,” said Kerry Campaign Manger Mary Beth Cahill.  “These ads communicate where John Kerry wants to take the country, including building a stronger economy, improving health care and education and making the nation safer and more secure.”

“Commitment” features Kerry talking directly to the American people about the steps he will take to make America stronger, including keeping America safe and secure, ending tax incentives that encourage companies to move jobs overseas and investing in education and healthcare. “Risk” shows Kerry talking about his plan to change the situation in Iraq by reaching out to the international community in order to share the burden and risk.

New Ad Highlights Kerry Commitment to Keeping Jobs Here

Washington, DC – With President Bush and his economic advisors continuing to insist that sending American jobs overseas “makes sense,” the Kerry campaign today launched a new 30-second television ad assuring American workers that John Kerry is committed to keeping jobs here.

The 30-second spot will run in 17 states beginning Friday: Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin, Florida, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Nevada, West Virginia, Arizona, Arkansas, Washington and Ohio.

“American workers deserve to know the truth about how the Bush administration feels about the loss of American jobs to countries overseas,” said Kerry Spokesperson Stephanie Cutter. “President Bush has no plan to stop outsourcing because he does not even believe it is a problem. John Kerry knows what is right for American jobs. He will change the failed economic policies of the Bush administration, create 10 million new jobs in America, not overseas, and lead the country in a new direction.” 

Last month, Kerry announced the most sweeping reform of international tax law in over 40 years to help America’s workers and businesses become more competitive at home.  The Kerry plan will eliminate all of the tax breaks that encourage companies to move jobs overseas and use the savings to encourage companies to create jobs in America.  Using a New Jobs Tax Credit paid for by a one-year tax holiday to encourage companies to reinvest their foreign earnings in America, Kerry will help jumpstart job creation. The plan is part of Kerry’s detailed agenda to create 10 million jobs in his first term as President.

Despite a record loss of American jobs, various Bush administration officials have repeatedly praised the benefits of outsourcing. On Tuesday, Treasury Secretary John Snow defended outsourcing during a stop in Ohio, saying “you can outsource a lot of activities and get them done just as well at a lower cost.” This followed the president’s 2004 Economic Report, which said outsourcing “makes sense,” and comments by the president’s chief economic advisor N. Gregory Mankiw that outsourcing is a “good thing.”

John Kerry hit the airwaves today with a new ad that features Max Cleland, the former United States Senator from Georgia and decorated war hero.

In the 30-second TV spot, airing statewide in Georgia, Cleland tells voters that he is supporting John Kerry because he has the experience, character and courage to strengthen the economy and make this country safer. Cleland is campaigning for John Kerry across Georgia this week.
Along with Kerry’s crewmates from Vietnam, Cleland has led the charge of organizing Kerry’s “Veterans’ Brigade.” After serving in Vietnam, President Carter appointed Cleland administrator of the Veteran’s Administration, where he pioneered the “Vets Center program,” offering the first psychological counseling and physical care program to veterans. Before he was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, Cleland served as the Georgia Secretary of State.  In 2002, he was appointed to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States.
