ROMNEY CAMPAIGN TO LAUNCH IOWA FARMERS FOR ROMNEYDes Moines, IA - Today, our campaign announced the Iowa Farmers for Romney coalition.
"I'm honored to have so many farmers standing with my campaign," said Mitt Romney. "They are the backbone of America and play a critical role in ensuring Americans across the country have access to safe and affordable food. The fruit of their labor nourishes the world, and I admire their hard work in harvesting our country's bountiful resources. Our farmers also have a critical role in the health of our economy, employing millions of Americans. I'm grateful to have their support in my efforts to turn around the economy and strengthen the middle class."
"President Obama's call to raise the death tax on farmers across this country puts the future of American farming at an unnecessary risk. We can't afford another four years of a president whose economic policies are built around raising taxes on middle class families and running up over $5 trillion in debt. I'm supporting Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan because their plan will cut taxes for the middle class, end the death tax, and get government spending back under control," said Dean Kleckner, former president of the American Farm Bureau.
Iowa Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey said, "Here in Iowa, farmers and agricultural business are central to powering our economy. Over the course of the past three and a half years, President Obama hasn't made good on the promises of his campaign four years ago, and the impact of his economic policies has been devastating throughout the country. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will provide new direction and fresh leadership in the White House that will allow us to boost trade, bring America back from the fiscal cliff, and increase take-home pay for the middle class."
"Agriculture is critical to the national economy. Yet, the current administration has brought only worry and concern for farmers and ranchers across the country. Their attempts to regulate dust and stop kids from helping out on their grandparents' farms are far from the commonsense solutions rural America needs," said U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley. "Farmers need a leader in the White House who will promote trade agreements that will grow the economy across our state. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan understand how critical agriculture is to Iowa and our country. They will be the champions we need to make sure agriculture is a vibrant sector of the national economy."
