On Friday, June 4, 2004, Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry joined fellow veterans from across the country at a rally in Minneapolis to kick off the national Veterans for Kerry operation. Among the veterans joining Kerry in Minneapolis were former Senator Max Cleland, former Vietnam crewmates of Kerry's, the Bolanos brothers, the only four brothers to serve in Vietnam. Senator Kerry said at the rally, "Today I’m proud to announce Veterans for Kerry, a group of men and women in all 50 states helping organize veterans, bringing our message to voters across America.”
